Design Diaries is a five-part, monthly event series in Budapest. The project brings together emerging and established designers from the V4 countries through short-form presentations and networking.
During the sessions, invited V4 designers and design professionals share their own experience, with particular attention to their collaborations with manufacturers and clients. The aim of the events is to facilitate knowledge exchange and networking, enabling future cross-border collaborative design and production processes to emerge in the Central and Eastern European design scene.

Comprising nine Hungarian designers, MAIII Collective emerged from a shared need to find their place within the design profession after graduation. Rather than navigating the industry individually, they created their own space to continue what they had started at university: thinking together, designing locally, and creating collaboratively. Alongside their creative practice, the members are also actively involved in higher education as lecturers. Today, MAIII Collective operates as an association, with friendship and a strong sense of community at the core of their work. They choose to collaborate with business taking a back seat.

Anett sáfrán
Ceramic-Focused Product Designer
Presentation title
Anett Sárfán is a Budapest-based product designer specialized in ceramics. She graduated with a Master's degree in Ceramic Design from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest. After finishing her studies, she moved to the Netherlands, where she gained hands-on experience in the field of design production, working with leading Dutch designers for over four years. She runs her own studio and works as a freelancer. She mainly creates bespoke tableware collections for restaurants, cafés, and other hospitality spaces. Alongside commissions, she also makes personal collections—objects intended for everyday use in private homes, designed to elevate simple rituals and bring joy to daily moments. Her material of choice is porcelain—timeless, refined, and rich in history. She aims to reinterpret this traditional material in a contemporary way, making it less of a museum piece and more a part of everyday enjoyment.
